Terms of Use

These terms set the conditions for using Sacramento Residents Directory. Accessing or using the reference means you accept them; do not use it if you disagree.

1. The Reference Service

Sacramento Residents Directory is a privately operated reference that describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and directory collections concerning Sacramento, California. It does not host government records and has no affiliation with a government office, court, library, or records custodian.

2. Acceptable Use

Use the service only in a lawful way. You may not use this reference, or information reached through it, to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft or fraud
  • Make FCRA-regulated decisions (credit, employment, tenant, insurance)
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the site's content at scale
  • Interfere with the site's operation or security

3. No Consumer Reports

This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Neither the material here nor results from a linked search tool are consumer reports, and neither may be used to evaluate eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by the FCRA.

4. External Destinations

Government portals and third-party services, including sponsored search providers, operate under their own terms and privacy rules. Sacramento Residents Directory does not control their content, availability, prices, or data practices.

5. No Warranty

The reference is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties. No promise is made that a statement is accurate, complete, or current, or that an outside portal will remain available or return a correct result.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of this service or an outside resource, including a decision based on a record found through it.

7. Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, that results from your misuse of the reference or breach of these terms.

8. Copyright and Site Material

The original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a short attributed excerpt is permitted; republishing a full page or copying the content systematically is not.

9. Revisions

A revised version may be posted here at any time. Continuing to use the service after a revision constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

10. Suspension of Access

Access may be blocked or limited for a user who violates these terms or abuses the service, at the operators' discretion and without advance notice.

11. California Law

California law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. When a request concerns a California state or local agency, the California Public Records Act, Government Code §§7920.000 et seq., provides the relevant access framework. Where applicable to personal information handled by a business, the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act, Civil Code §§1798.100 et seq., supply the privacy framework.

12. Severability

If a court finds one provision unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
